D.J. Augustin is getting back into the groove for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 5 March 2011 at 9:43 pm

23-year old point guard D.J. Augustin is getting back into the groove for the Bobcats lately.  In his last five games, Augustin is averaging 32.0 minutes, 18.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.  He has now played in 61 games (all starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 33.3 minutes, 14.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.  Due to the Gerald Wallace deal last week with the Blazers, the Bobcats are going to need Augustin to look for his own shot more which is something I’m pretty sure he can handle going forward.

Gerald Henderson is stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 26 February 2011 at 10:34 pm

23-year old shooting guard Gerald Henderson has been stepping up in February.  Henderson has played in 10 games this month and he is averaging 24.5 minutes, 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game on 50% shooting from the floor.  He has now played in 44 games (6 starts) so far this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  Henderson’s play so far this month probably made the Bobcats a little more comfortable in dealing away Gerald Wallace.  He needs to reward the Bobcats’ faith in him by playing well the rest of this season.

Gerald Henderson is off to a good start this month for the Charlotte Bobcats

23-year old SG/SF Gerald Henderson is playing pretty solid basketball right now.  He has played in 6 games so far this month and he is averaging 24.0 minutes, 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  It seems like new head coach Paul Silas likes Henderson way more than Larry Brown ever did and his confidence in him has been rewarded lately.  Henderson has played in 39 games (5 starts) so far this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 18.6 minutes, 6.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  The Bobcats spent a first round pick on Henderson in the 2009 NBA Draft so they have to be glad to see his improvement so far this year.

Kwame Brown is stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 7 February 2011 at 11:24 pm

I’ll admit it when I’m wrong about something.  I blasted the Bobcats’ signing of Kwame Brown but he has really played good basketball for them so far this year.  In 19 games in January & February, Brown is averaging 26.7 minutes, 9.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game as he has taken over as the starting center for the Bobcats.  Brown has now played in 36 games (20 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 22.3 minutes, 7.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He is shooting 53.2% from the floor so far this year (which is outstanding) but Brown is only making 60.3% from the free throw line which is something he needs to improve on.  The Bobcats hope that Brown keeps up the good work.

D.J. Augustin looked pretty solid in January for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 1 February 2011 at 7:21 pm

23-year old point guard D.J. Augustin was outstanding last month for the Bobcats.  He played in 16 games in January in which he averaged 35.1 minutes, 18.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.  Augustin has now played in 47 games (all starts) for the Bobcats this season and he is averaging 34.6 minutes, 15.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.  Augustin has been very solid for the Bobcats this season as they have not missed Raymond Felton (he signed with the Knicks) at all.

Boris Diaw is stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 24 January 2011 at 11:10 pm

With Tyrus Thomas out of action and no real power forward behind him, the Bobcats need big minutes out of 28-year old Boris Diaw.  He is rising to the challenge of the increased minutes so far.  In his last five games, Diaw is averaging 37.2 minutes, 13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  He has now played in 42 games (all starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 35.5 minutes, 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.  The Bobcats really need Diaw to stay productive because they aren’t a very deep team.

D.J. Augustin is stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats

23-year old point guard D.J. Augustin is getting hot so far this January.  In his first 5 games this month, Augustin is averaging 35.8 minutes, 18.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.  He has now played in 36 games (all starts) so far this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 34.5 minutes, 14.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.  Augustin has really responded to the challenge this year as he beat out Shaun Livingston for the starting  job at the point and he has played well enough to keep the job.  The Bobcats might be leaning more on Augustin in the near future with Gerald Wallace’s name swirling in the trade market.

Gerald Henderson is stepping up as of late for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 11 January 2011 at 2:57 pm

23-year old SG Gerald Henderson has been getting a lot of P.T. lately with Gerald Wallace out of action due to injury.  In his last five games, Henderson is averaging 29.8 minutes, 10.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  He is also shooting 52.4% from the floor in those five games as he has been very solid lately for the Bobcats.  Henderson has now played in 20 games (4 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 15.8 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  The Bobcats still have high hopes for Henderson who they drafted with the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of Duke.

Shaun Livingston is playing decent ball off the bench for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 2 December 2010 at 2:33 am

25-year old point guard Shaun Livingston thought he was signing a deal during the summer to become the starting point guard of the Bobcats.  But to this point in the year he has been backing up D.J. Augustin.  Instead of moping  due to his new role, Livingston is playing solid basketball.  Livingston has played in 17 games (0 starts) so far this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 17.4 minutes, 5.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.  He is also shooting 54.9% from the floor so far this year so he’s been a asset off the bench for the Bobcats so far this year.

The Charlotte Bobcats should play Tyrus Thomas more

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 6:01 pm

The Bobcats gave 24-year old power forward Tyrus Thomas the big money over the summer so why not let him earn it? Thomas has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 21.1 minutes, 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per game. In my opinion the Bobcats would be better to go small, starting D.J. Augustin, Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw and Tyrus Thomas.
