The Charlotte Bobcats are going to be without D.J. Augustin a while longer

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Rookie Reports,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 30 January 2012 at 7:25 pm

24-year old starting point guard D.J. Augustin’s toe is still barking and he will likely miss the Bobcats upcoming 4-game road trip.  He has played in 17 games (all starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 32.6 minutes, 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game.  21-year old rookie Kemba Walker has stepped up so far while Augustin has been out of action.  Walker has started the last 9 games for the Bobcats and he is averaging 15.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game.  He has now played in 21 games (9 starts) overall this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 27.1 minutes, 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game despite only shooting 37.3% from the floor.  The Bobcats need Walker to keep up the solid work until Augustin is ready to return to action.

The rookies on the Charlotte Bobcats need to start doing more with their minutes

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 2:03 am

The Charlotte Bobcats are a pretty lousy basketball team, so they need more from their rookies.  21-year old point guard Kemba Walker has been a bricklayer so far this year as he is only hitting 36.1% from the floor and 29.6% (8 of 27) from three point range.  Walker has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 20.4 minutes, 9.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  19-year old power forward Bismack Biyombo talked a good game on draft night as he projected himself to led the NBA in rebounding and blocked shots in the near future.  To bad he isn’t backing up his talk.  Biyombo has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 11.5 minutes, 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  22-year old shooting guard Cory Higgins has not played much for the Bobcats so far this year.  He has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 5.0 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

Sherron Collins hasn’t shown much for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Friday 14 January 2011 at 4:16 pm

Rookie point guard Sherron Collins hasn’t got to show much for the Bobcats so far this year.  He is behind D.J. Augustin & Shaun Livingston on the depth chart so don’t look for him to get a chance to show what he can do unless one of them gets injured.  Collins has played in 15 games (0 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 3.3 minutes, 0.7 points, 0.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  Collins just needs to keep working hard and wait for an opportunity with the Bobcats.

The Charlotte Bobcats send Sherrod Collins to the D-League

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Friday 10 December 2010 at 2:42 am

The Bobcats have decided to send 23-year old rookie guard Sherrod Collins to the D-League.  Collins has played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 2.4 minutes, 0.3 points, 0.1 rebound and 0.4 assists per game.  This is a smart move for the Bobcats as Collins won’t get any better sitting on the bench in Charlotte.

Sherron Collins is buried on the bench for the Charlotte Bobcats

23-year old rookie guard Sherron Collins is buried on the depth chart for the Bobcats. He has played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this year and he is averaging 2.7 minutes and 0.5 assists per game. He has yet to score or grab a rebound in his NBA career. Unless the Bobcats suffer a lot of injuries at guard, Collins is only going to be playing at garbage time.

The Charlotte Bobcats didn’t use their rookies much this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Thursday 15 April 2010 at 3:18 pm

Larry Brown doesn’t like to use the kids much as he is focused on winning now wherever he goes and that’s usually a good thing. The Bobcats are going to the playoffs this year so who cares if he gets the rookies P.T. 22-year old forward Derrick Brown was the rookie who looked the best this year for the Bobcats. He played in 57 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this year and he averaged 9.4 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Brown shot pretty well hitting 46.3% from the floor as a rookie. I think he is a keeper for the Bobcats. Gerald Henderson on the other hand did not do much to inspire confidence from the Bobcats’ front office. He played in 43 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this year and he averaged 8.3 minutes, 2.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Henderson only shot 35.6% from the floor this year but he didn’t really get enough P.T. to get into a rhythm shooting the ball. He better improve his game a bit over the summer if he wants to get more of a chance next season with the Bobcats.

The Charlotte Bobcats don’t have minutes for the rookies right now

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Wednesday 24 February 2010 at 1:58 pm

The Bobcats are suddenly a veteran team making a run for the playoffs. That has caused Gerald Henderson and Derrick Brown to get a lot of bench time this year. SG/SF Gerald Henderson has played in 29 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this season and he is averaging 7.7 minutes, 2.4 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game. He is only shooting 33.8% from the floor and that’s not good enough to get him off the bench. Brown has been better than Henderson so far this season. The forward has played in 41 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this season and he is averaging 11.3 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Brown will also likely be buried on the bench with the addition of Tyrus Thomas last week.

The Charlotte Bobcats aren’t playing their rookies much this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 9:00 am

With the Eastern Conference being as weak as it is this season the Bobcats are going all out to make the playoffs and that has resulted in the rookies not getting much playing time. Forward Derrick Brown has played pretty decent in his limited time on the court this season. He has played in 24 games (0 starts) in which he has averaged 11.6 minutes, 4.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Brown could get more playing time if the need arises due to injury along the frontcourt. SG/SF Gerald Henderson has been pretty awful this season for the Bobcats so far. He has played in 21 games (0 starts) in which he is averaging 8.9 minutes, 3.2 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game. Henderson is only shooting 37.9% from the floor and 28.6% from three point range this season. Until his shooting picks up I just don’t see him getting much playing time.

The Charlotte Bobcats have not had much time to play the rookies this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Saturday 14 November 2009 at 2:41 pm

21-year old SG/SF Gerald Henderson and 22-year old PF/SF Derrick Brown have not had a lot of playing time to show what they can do yet this season. Henderson has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this season and he is averaging 10.6 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Henderson is only shooting 34.8% from the floor and he won’t get any extending playing time until that improves. Derrick Brown has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this season and he is averaging 10.4 minutes, 3.8 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Unless the Bobcats suffer some injuries at their positions look for Henderson and Brown to continue getting spotty minutes.

The Charlotte Bobcats are happy with their rookies so far this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Thursday 27 November 2008 at 12:12 am

The Bobcats are very happy with guard D.J. Augustin and center Alexis Ajinca so far this season. Augustin has played in 13 games this season for the Bobcats and he is averaging 27.7 minutes, 12.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He’s now in the starting lineup for the Bobcats and he will stay there if he continues to play well. Alexis Ajinca has played in 11 games for the Bobcats this season and he is averaging 6.6 minutes, 1.2 points and 0.9 rebounds per game. If the Bobcats continue to play poorly then Ajinca could start getting more playing time.
