The Bobcats were outrebounded 55-30 last night as they looked awful.  Byron Mullens got the start at center last night for the Bobcats and he led the way with 22 points and 4 rebounds in 33 minutes on the court.  Gerald Henderson also had a decent game with 16 poins, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Tyrus Thomas finished up with 9 points and 3 blocked shots, but he didn’t get any rebounds which was very odd.  The Bobcats are now 2-9 on the year.

The rookies on the Charlotte Bobcats need to start doing more with their minutes

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 2:03 am

The Charlotte Bobcats are a pretty lousy basketball team, so they need more from their rookies.  21-year old point guard Kemba Walker has been a bricklayer so far this year as he is only hitting 36.1% from the floor and 29.6% (8 of 27) from three point range.  Walker has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 20.4 minutes, 9.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  19-year old power forward Bismack Biyombo talked a good game on draft night as he projected himself to led the NBA in rebounding and blocked shots in the near future.  To bad he isn’t backing up his talk.  Biyombo has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 11.5 minutes, 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  22-year old shooting guard Cory Higgins has not played much for the Bobcats so far this year.  He has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 5.0 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

Augustin (11 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists) also pitched in for the Bobcats last night.  The Bobcats are now 2-8 on the year.

White (15 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist in 25 minutes), Gerald Henderson (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal) and D.J. Augustin (12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists) also had solid games for the Bobcats tonight.  Kemba Walker had a rough game tonight as he only shot 2 of 9 from the floor and he turned the ball over four times in 16 minutes on the floor.  He still finished up with 10 points, 3 assists and 1 steal.  The Bobcats are now 2-7 on the season.

Byron Mullens is looking good so far this year for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 8 January 2012 at 8:03 pm

The Bobcats saved 22-year old center Byron Mullens from being nailed to the Thunder’s bench or playing in the D-League this year when they dealt a 2nd round pick for him before this year started.  He has been a nice surprise so far for the Bobcats.  Mullens has played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Thunder so far this year and he is averaging 18.8 minutes, 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Mullens is shooting 52.7% from the floor as he looks especially good offensively for the Thunder.  Look for Mullens to start getting more P.T. if he continues to play at a high level.

The Charlotte Bobcats will be without Corey Maggette for a while

Blogged under Big Bobcats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Friday 6 January 2012 at 7:10 pm

The Charlotte Bobcats will be without 32 year old small forward Corey Maggette for the next 2-4 weeks due to a hamstring injury.  Maggette has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 30.2 minutes, 12.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.  But, Maggette is only shooting 30% from the floor so far this year.  24-year old Derrick Brown will probably see a bump in P.T. until Maggette is ready to return to action.  Brown has played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 16.3 minutes, 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  The Bobcats hope that Brown takes advantage of this opportunity.
