Orlando Magic 100, Charlotte Bobcats 86

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 28 February 2011 at 3:57 pm

The Bobcats didn’t play much D as the Magic shot 51.5% from the floor last night and it did them in.  Stephen Jackson led the way for the Bobcats in this game with 35 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Boris Diaw also had a decent game with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot last night.  D.J. Augustin pitched in with 11 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists in this game.  The Bobcats are now 26-33 on the season.

Gerald Henderson is stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 26 February 2011 at 10:34 pm

23-year old shooting guard Gerald Henderson has been stepping up in February.  Henderson has played in 10 games this month and he is averaging 24.5 minutes, 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game on 50% shooting from the floor.  He has now played in 44 games (6 starts) so far this year for the Bobcats and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  Henderson’s play so far this month probably made the Bobcats a little more comfortable in dealing away Gerald Wallace.  He needs to reward the Bobcats’ faith in him by playing well the rest of this season.

Charlotte Bobcats 110, Sacramento Kings 98

The Bobcats had too much firepower for the Kings to handle last night.  Stephen Jackson led the way for the Bobcats last night with 30 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  D.J. Augustin (23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal) and Gerald Henderson (21 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist) also had nice games for the Bobcats last night.  Kwame Brown (12 points and 13 rebounds) and Shaun Livingston (10 points) also pitched in for the Bobcats last night.  The Bobcats are now 26-32 on the year.

The Charlotte Bobcats deal Nazr Mohammed to the Thunder

Blogged under Big Bobcats News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 25 February 2011 at 1:04 am

The Bobcats have dealt 33-year old center Nazr Mohammed to the Thunder for 24-year old power forward D.J. White and 33-year old SG/SF Morris Peterson.  Mohammed played in 51 games (30 starts) for the Bobcats this season and he averaged 16.7 minutes, 7.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  He has now played in 209 games (89 starts) in his four seasons with the Bobcats and he averaged 17.2 minutes, 7.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  Mohammed was playing solid basketball this season for the Bobcats but he’s getting near the end of the line in his NBA career so they did him a favor by dealing him to the Thunder.

D.J. White is the key to this trade for the Bobcats as they will give him a chance to show what he can do.  White played in 23 games (0 starts) for the Thunder this season and he averaged 9.5 minutes, 2.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  He has now played in 42 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 10.7 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game on 51.9% shooting from the floor.  Morris Peterson played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Thunder this season and he averaged 5.8 minutes, 1.0 point, 0.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Peterson has now played in 711 games (487 starts) in his first 11 years in the NBA and he is averaging 27.2 minutes, 10.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.  He doesn’t have much left in the gas tank.

UPDATE:  (3/1/2011) – The Bobcats have waived Morris Peterson before he got into any games for them.

The Charlotte Bobcats deal Gerald Wallace to the Trailblazers

Blogged under Big Bobcats News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 25 February 2011 at 12:49 am

The Bobcats have officially waved the White Flag on this season as they have dealt 27-year old small forward Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trailblazers for 31-year old center Joel Przybilla, 23-year old power forward Dante Cunningham, 35-year old PF/C Sean Marks and two first round picks.  Wallace played in 48 games (all starts) for the Bobcats this season and he averaged 39.0 minutes, 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.o blocked shot per game.  He played in 454 games (445 starts) in his seven years with the Bobcats and he averaged 36.8 minutes, 16.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  The Bobcats are going to miss Wallace’s all-out effort that he brought to both ends of the basketball court night in and night out.

Other than the draft picks, 23-year old forward Dante Cunningham is the best piece the Bobcats got back in this deal.  He played in 56 games (9 starts) for the Blazers this season and he averaged 19.8 minutes, 5.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  Cunningham has now played in 119 games (11 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 15.3 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He has a nice upside but he is no Gerald Wallace.  Joel Przybilla played in 31 games (9 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he averaged 14.4 minutes, 1.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists.  He  has now played in 548 games (377 starts) in his first 11 years in the NBA and he is averaging 20.3 minutes, 4.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game.  Przybilla will be backing up Kwame Brown the rest of the year for the Bobcats.  Sean Marks played in 29 games (0 starts) for the Blazers this season and he averaged 7.2 minutes, 1.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  He has now played in 230 games (11 starts) in his NBA career and he averaged 9.9 minutes, 2.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  The Bobcats better not miss on the draft picks they got in this deal, because they essentially gave up on this season due to this trade.

UPDATE:  (3/3/2011) – The Bobcats have released Sean Marks before he even got into a game for them.

Charlotte Bobcats 114, Toronto Raptors 101

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 4:01 am

The Bobcats just overmatched the Raptors last night, plain & simple.  D.J. Augustin led the way for the Bobcats last night with 23 points, 1 rebound and 8 assists.  Gerald Wallace (20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Boris Diaw (16 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot) also had nice games for the Bobcats last night.  Stephen Jackson pitched in with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  The Bobcats are now 25-32 on the year.

The Charlotte Bobcats have not looked good so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 3:41 pm

The Charlotte Bobcats limped into the All-Star break with a 24-32 record which has them in 4th place in the Southeast Division, 17 games behind the Miami Heat.  But, the Bobcats are currently 9th in the Eastern Conference, only 1 game behind the Indiana Pacers.  It will be interesting to see what the Bobcats do at the trade deadline because there are rumors that they might be willing to deal Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace.  I see that as waving the White Flag which would be awful considering that they are right in the playoff hunt.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:  Everyone thought that when the Bobcats signed Shaun Livingston to a nice free agent deal that he would be replacing Raymond Felton in the starting lineup at point guard.  That was not the case though as 23-year old D.J. Augustin stepped up and won the starting point guard job for the Bobcats.  He has played in 56 games (all starts) for the Bobcats so far this year and he is averaging 33.4 minutes, 14.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.  The Bobcats hope that Augustin finishes this year strongly.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:  29-year old center DeSagana Diop’s season ended very early due to injury.  But he wasn’t helping the Bobcats at all anyway so they have not missed him one bit.  Diop played in 16 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats this season and he was averaging 11.3 minutes, 1.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  Diop shot 33.3% from the floor and only 36% from the free throw line for the Bobcats this season and that is pathetic!  Diop plain stinks!

Chicago Bulls 106, Charlotte Bobcats 94

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Wednesday 16 February 2011 at 10:49 pm

The Bobcats didn’t play any D last night as the Bulls shot 50% from the floor and it did them in.  Gerald Henderson led the way for the Bobcats last night with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes on the floor.  Stephen Jackson (20 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists) and Boris Diaw (18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal) also pitched in for the Bobcats last night.  The Bobcats are now 24-32 on the year.

Charlotte Bobcats 109, Los Angeles Lakers 89

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Tuesday 15 February 2011 at 2:01 pm

The Bobcats shot 51.2% from the floor last night and it was the biggest reason for the blowout win over the Lakers.  Gerald Wallace led the way for the Bobcats last night with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 1 steal.  Gerald Henderson also had a solid game with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots last night.  Boris Diaw and Nazr Mohammed each pitched in with 16 points apiece in this game.  The Bobcats are now 24-31 on the year.

The Bobcats outscored the Hawks 20-14 in the 4th quarter and Stephen Jackson hit the game winning shot as time expired.  Stephen Jackson led the way for the Bobcats last night with 32 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Shaun Livingston also was outstanding last night with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocked shot in 30 minutes off the bench.  Gerald Wallace also filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  The Bobcats are now 23-31 on the year.
