The Charlotte Bobcats will be busy this summer

The Charlotte Bobcats gave up a lot to get power forward Tyrus Thomas last winter so I think they will match any offer he gets as a restricted free agent. Thomas has not even scratched the surface of his potential which should be a scary thought for opposing teams. If the Bobcats keep Gerald Wallace, Tyrus Thomas and Tyson Chandler they will have a very solid D in 2010-11. The Bobcats also should re-sign Raymond Felton as long as he doesn’t get a big time offer (which he might). If Felton leaves the Bobcats will have to sign an experienced point guard to share the job with D.J. Augustin. Guys like Luke Ridnour, Shaun Livingston, Chris Duhon, Derek Fisher and Nate Robinson make the most sense.

Tyson Chandler opts in for the Charlotte Bobcats

27-year old center Tyson Chandler has opted in for the 2010-11 season for $12.7 million bucks. Chandler played in 51 games (27 starts) in his first year with the Bobcats and he averaged 22.8 minutes, 6.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game. Chandler has now played in 588 games (391 starts) in his nine years in the NBA and he is averaging 27.6 minutes, 8.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. The Bobcats were likely hoping that Chandler was going to opt out. Hopefully he’ll provide the defense and rebounding that the Bobcats though he would in 2010-11.

The Charlotte Bobcats will likely be doing a lot of watching tomorrow night

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 June 2010 at 2:07 pm

The Charlotte Bobcats currently have no picks in tomorrow night’s NBA Draft. I look for that to change though as it has been known that a lot of teams are willing to sell their picks. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see the Bobcats move point guard D.J. Augustin tomorrow night as he was a huge disappointment for them last season. Trading Augustin would be risky business however as Raymond Felton is a free agent and a lot of teams will be interested in him.

Stephen Jackson was a godsend for the Charlotte Bobcats this year

32-year old shooting guard Stephen Jackson was a godsend for the Bobcats this season after coming over in a trade early in the year from the Warriors. Jackson was the best offensive player on the team in 2009-10 for the Bobcats. He played in 72 games (all starts) for the Bobcats last year and he averaged 39.3 minutes, 21.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Jackson has now played in 680 games (589 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 33.2 minutes, 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Jackson didn’t play a lot in his first 2-3 seasons so I think he still has a lot left in the tank for the Bobcats and that is good news.
