The Charlotte Bobcats will have some decisions to make this summer about their free agents to be

The Bobcats have six unrestricted free agents and one restricted free agent coming into this summer. As long as the bidding doesn’t get too ridiculous on power forward Tyrus Thomas look for the Bobcats to match it and bring the restricted free agent back in the fold. The most important decision facing the Bobcats this summer is whether to re-sign starting point guard Raymond Felton. With the way that D.J. Augustin played last season I would think the Bobcats will seriously consider re-signing Felton. The biggest problem with that is that he won’t be cheap as he is the best unrestricted free agent at point guard. Tyson Chandler, Nazr Mohammed and Theo Ratliff all have early termination options in their contracts but I don’t see any of them getting much of a raise if they left so I would think they will all want to stay. SG/SF Stephen Graham and PG/SG Larry Hughes won’t likely get many offers so the Bobcats could get them cheap if they want them. The Bobcats will be a very interesting team to watch this summer as they have some tough decisions to make.

Could D.J. Augustin be trade bait for the Charlotte Bobcats?

The Bobcats are like a donut as they have a big whole in the middle (center). Just thinking out loud I wonder if they might put 2nd year point guard D.J. Augustin on the block. The 22-year old Augustin played in 80 games (2 starts) for the Bobcats last season and he averaged 18.4 minutes, 6.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He was a huge disappointment for the Bobcats after turning in a solid rookie year. He has now played in 152 games (13 starts) for the Bobcats (2 years) in which he is averaging 22.2 minutes, 8.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Personally I would keep Augustin but you never know what Michael Jordan and the Bobcats have up their sleeves.

Gerald Wallace had a fantastic season for the Charlotte Bobcats this year

Gerald Wallace was the main reason why the Charlotte Bobcats made the playoffs this season, proving that he is one of the best all-around players in the NBA.  Whether it was scoring, rebounding, or shutting down a star player on the opposing team, Wallace did it all for the Bobcats this season.  On the season he averaged 18.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks.  He shot 48% from the field, 37% from three, and 78% from the free-throw line.  Averaging a double-double in points and rebounds is no easy task in the NBA, especially when you are only 6’7″ and 220 lbs.  He is the size of a shooting guard, but he rebounds and blocks shots like he is a power forward.  Wallace’s abilities get overlooked a lot in this league, but he truly is one of the best all-around players in the game right now.  His numbers prove that.  I’m sure new owner Michael Jordan appreciates everything that Wallace does on the court, because Wallace does whatever it takes to get the win.  Bobcats’ fans can’t be too disappointed in their first-round exit in the playoffs, because the Bobcats (and almost every team) had no answer for the Magic’s Dwight Howard.  They should be proud of their winning season and Wallace’s great year, and the future is bright with the duo of Wallace and Stephen Jackson, along with that guy MJ calling the shots now.
