The Charlotte Bobcats re-sign Gerald Wallace

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Bobcats News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 13 July 2007 at 4:13 pm

The Charlotte Bobcats have opened the vault to re-sign Gerald Wallace. They have given Wallace a 6-year, $57 million dollar contract. If the Bobcats can keep Wallace, Okafor and Richardson healthy in 2007-08 the Bobcats will be a playoff team….mark my words.

The Charlotte Bobcats re-sign Matt Carroll

The Bobcats have re-signed Matt Carroll to a 6-year, $27 million dollar contract. Carroll played well last season for the Bobcats as he played in 72 games (47 starts) and he averaged 26.1 minutes, 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He also shot well as he hit 43.3% from the floor, 41.6% from three point range and 90.4% from the free throw line.

Carroll’s career numbers improved across the board due to his outstanding play last season. He has played in 191 games (53 starts) and he has averaged 19.1 minutes, 8.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has hit 41.7% from the floor, 39.9% from three point range and 86.2% from the free throw line.

The Charlotte Bobcats exercise team options on Walter Herrmann and Ryan Hollins

The Bobcats have exercised their team options on 2nd year players Walter Herrmann and Ryan Hollins. Herrmann had a good year as a rookie as he played in 48 games (12 starts) and he averaged 19.5 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Look for Herrmann to get more playing time in his second season as he played very well as a rookie for the Bobcats. Center Ryan Hollins played in 27 games (0 starts) as a rookie he averaged 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.9 minutes per game. Hollins shot 55.6% from the floor and 60% from the free throw line.

Jake Voskuhl terminates his deal with the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Bobcats News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 July 2007 at 3:10 pm

For some reason Jake Voskuhl’s agent thinks he can make more money as a free agent than he could be staying with the Bobcats so Voskuhl terminated his contract and is now an unrestricted free agent. Voskuhl played in 73 games (9 starts) with the Bobcats and he averaged 14.3 minutes, 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Voskuhl made 47.5% of his shots from the floor and 68.1% from the free throw line.

Voskuhl has been a decent backup but nothing special in his NBA career so far. He has played in 368 games (92 starts) and he has averaged 15.8 minutes, 4.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has shot 49.7% from the floor and 70.7% from the free throw line over his NBA career.

The Charlotte Bobcats waive Brevin Knight

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Bobcats News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 July 2007 at 9:27 am

The Bobcats have decided that they wanted to spend their money elsewhere so they waived point guard Brevin Knight. Knight played pretty well in his time in Charlotte but the Bobcats figured that Raymond Felton was ready to take over full time at the point. Knight played in 45 games (25 starts) and he averaged 28.3 minutes, 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He wasn’t much of a shooter for a guard however as he only hit 41.9% of his shots from the floor, 5.6% from three point range and 80.5% from the free throw line.

Knight has played in 581 NBA games over his career (384 starts) and he has averaged 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He has never been that much of a shooter as he has hit 41.6% of his shots from the floor, 15% from three point range and 78.7% from the free throw line.
