The Charlotte Bobcats rookies earn a C+

I would have given the Bobcats a higher grade if Adam Morrison wasn’t such a bad basketball player. Morrison is softer than a roll of Charmin. He played in 78 games last season and he averaged 29.8 minutes, 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. His shooting always wasn’t as good as advertised as he shot 37.6% from the floor and he hit 33.7% from three-point range. He looks like he’s nothing more than a backup player in the future for the Bobcats. Walter Herrmann was everything the Bobcats expected out of Morrison. In 48 games he averaged 19.5 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He also was a deadeye shooter as he hit 52.7% from the floor and 46.1% from three-point range. Herrmann could be a future starter or 6th man for the Bobcats as they made a nice pick with him. Center Ryan Hollins only played in 27 games and he averaged 6.9 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. Hollins shot 55.6% from the floor but most of his shots were putbacks and dunks.

The 2006-2007 Charlotte Bobcats by the numbers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Bobcats News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 1:36 pm

The Bobcats finished in 4th place in the Southeast Division, 11 games behind the Miami Heat. The Cats were 20-21 at home and only 13-28 on the road. They were 24-28 against the Eastern Conference, but a very solid 9-7 in the Division. The Cats averaged 96.9 points per game but they allowed 100.6 points per game. They ended the season on a high not winning 6 of their last 10 games.

Brevin Knight needs to shake his shooting slump for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 12:32 pm

Brevin Knight is in a shooting slump in April so far as he’s only hitting 32.6% of his shots from the floor. In 6 games this month, Knight is averaging 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. The Bobcats need him to shoot a little bit better to open the paint up for the big guys when he’s on the court.

Rookie Walter Herrmann playing really well lately for the Charlotte Bobcats

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 11:38 am

Walter Herrmann has moved into the starting lineup due to injury and he hasn’t looked back. He’s started 7 games the last two weeks and he’s averaged 18.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Herrmann has also shot really well from the floor as he’s hit 58.9% the last two weeks. Herrmann is everything the Bobcats thought they were getting with first round pick Adam Morrison.

Gerald Wallace really stepping up for the Charlotte Bobcats the last two weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 11:32 am

Gerald Wallace has been carrying the Bobcats the last couple of weeks. He has played in 7 games and he’s averaged 26.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3.6 steals and 1.6 blocks in those games. He also has shot 56.1% from the floor the last two weeks which is pretty darn good. Wallace is a great all-around player but he often winds up getting injured due to his all-out style of play. Still, the Bobcats don’t want to change a thing about Wallace.
