Bobcats lose to Sonics 99-85

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 1:47 pm

The Bobcats came out flat for the third quarter and the Sonics stuck it to them 35-19 and they couldn’t recover from that. Emeka Okafor played hard the whole game and scored 20 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Brevin Knight had a good game with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Gerald Wallace scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Adam Morrison made his first start of his NBA career, and it wasn’t pretty. Morrison played 27 minutes, shot 3 of 12 from the floor and finished with 9 points and 3 steals.

The Bobcats have to play hard all 4 quarters if they want to win games. The Bobcats fell to 1-4 last night.

Bobcats fall in OT 110-108 to Celtics

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 1:28 am

The Bobcats fought hard but it wasn’t quite good enough. Emeka Okafor had a monster game with 28 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Brevin Knight was very busy with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Raymond Felton had a decent game with 12 points & 4 assists. Adam Morrison was laying a lot of bricks last night, hitting only 2 of 11 from the floor for 12 points. Gerald Wallace (10 points), Sean May (10 points) & Othella Harrington (10 points) all pitched in.

The Bobcats only shot 39.3% from the field and still scored 108 points. The Cats are now 1-3.

Centers

7’1″ center Primoz Brezec really stepped up last season when given the starting job in Charlotte. Brezec averaged 12.4 points & 5.6 rebounds last season. Primoz will miss a little time because of exhaustion and dehydration, because he played in the World Summer Games and didn’t have any time for R & R. When Brezec comes back, look out for the Bobcats who have built a nice little arsenal of players. Brezec has averaged 9.5 points & 4.9 rebounds over his career, despite only averaging 22.5 minutes per game. Brezec should have another nice season if he is fit.

Jake Voskuhl is a hustle-type player that plays better than he has a right to, because he plays all out at all times. Voskuhl will be a good back-up for the Bobcats as he brings toughness under the basket. For his career, Voskuhl has averaged 4.6 points & 3.8 rebounds per game.

Othella Harrington will play both center & power forward. Harrington is a little under-sized for center, but he makes up for that with his desire to succeed. Harrington has averaged 7.7 points & 4.6 rebounds per game over his career, despite only averaging 20.5 minutes per game.

Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 3:30 pm

Adam Morrison looks like the starter at small forward for the Bobcats. Morrison was the Bobcats first-round pick last June out of Gonzaga. Questions abound about Morrison’s defensive ability as he is 6’8″, but only 205 pounds. As far as offense goes, the sky is the limit for him. In his last season at Gonzaga (junior year), he averaged 28.1 points per game and shot 42.8% from 3-point range. Morrison is a great shooter that hit 50% of his career FG attempts at Gonzaga.

Look for Bernard Robinson to be the back-up for the Bobcats. Robinson is a skilled player that hasn’t got much playing time in the NBA. Robinson has averaged only 16.8 minutes per game….but has scored 5.3 points, grabbed 2.8 rebounds, dished out 1.1 assists and stole 1.0 ball per game. Robinson is very active and should help the Bobcats when he gets to play.

Bobcats turn up the defense and beat Cavs 92-88

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 5 November 2006 at 1:13 am

The Bobcats held the Cavs to 38% shooting from the field and LeBron James was held to only 16 points on Saturday night. The small, quick guards of the Bobcats caused the Cavs big problems. Raymond Felton scored 23 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Brevin Knight had a good game against his old team, scoring 17 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. Sean May scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Emeka Okafor scored 12 points and blocked 3 shots. Rookie Adam Morrison chipped in with 13 points.

This was a huge win for the young Bobcats.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 1:49 pm

The Bobcats are loaded at power forward. Emeka Okafor is a beast on the court. Okafor is a fantastic rebounder and defensive player, and his offensive game is starting to evolve. Opponents better watch out for this guy. Okafor has averaged 14.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.9 steals and 1.8 blocks per game so far in his career. The sky is the limit for him.

Sean May was injured most of last season, but he’s healthy now. May only played 23 games as a rookie and averaged only 17.3 minutes per game. But, May produced when given a chance, averaging 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He could easily double those averages if he were given starters minutes.

Melvin Ely is the third-stringer and he’s very valuable. Ely has averaged 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Ely is a tough rebounder & defender that adds to the team when he plays.

Bobcats go frigid in 4th quarter and lose 96-83 to Grizzlies

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 3:25 am

The Bobcats were winning this basketball game 70-60 after three quarters and got out-scored 36-13 in the 4th quarter by the Grizzlies! Rookie Adam Morrison led the way for the Bobcats with 21 points. Brevin Knight scored 12 points and dished out 7 assists. Gerald Wallace scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Emeka Okafor scored 8 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.

This loss has to sting for the young Bobcats.

Bobcats lose in home opener 106-99 to Pacers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 3 November 2006 at 12:13 pm

The two main reasons the Bobcats lost this game were….the Bobcats turned the ball over 22 times often leading to easy Pacers scores and the Pacers depth on their roster that saw all 12 players play in the game and 8 of them played over 20 minutes compared to only 5 for the Bobcats. Emeka Okafor is back! Okafor had 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocked shots as he ruled the paint! Sean May showed why the Bobcats took him in the first round last year with 10 points & 10 rebounds. The Bobcats went small in the backcourt starting both Raymond Felton and Brevin Knight. That caused some defensive problems, but Felton scored 12 points and Brevin Knight scored 14 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 7 assists and stole the ball 3 times. Adam Morrison got his first taste of the NBA and scored 14 points.

The Bobcats played tough but it wasn’t enough.
